Bonding

Dental bonding performed at General & Cosmetic Dentistry in Seattle is necessary for patients with chipped, decayed, discolored or cracked teeth. Once bonding is complete, your smile will look amazing and you will feel confident in the look of your teeth. Bonding involves the application of composite resin to tooth surfaces for repair. Bonding is primarily used to correct teeth that have become discolored and chipped. Tooth bonding also helps individuals with spaces between their teeth and those suffering from misshapen teeth.

The dentist uses a shade guide to match the resin shade with that of your natural teeth. The tooth surface is roughened and treated with a conditioning liquid so the bonding material adheres to the tooth surface. The dentist then adds resin to the tooth. An ultraviolet light is used to harden the material. The dentist will then polish and shape the bonding after the resin sets so your teeth have visual uniformity. All in all, the bonding process takes about half an hour per tooth. You will be able to return to your regular daily activities after the bonding process as it does not require the use of anesthesia.
